Jonathan Saunders 2012

Hi readers!

Jonathan Saunders, this is the name of the collection we want to show you today.

The last season the designer presented one of the most beautiful works. Very feminine, with a retro touch based on the juxtaposition of prints but adding an artistic point of view that recalled the Art Nouveau and the wonderful patterns of William Morris.

The current collection is an exquisite madness full of pastel tones and subtle geometric prints. We don´t want to keep giving you more details because we want you to watch the show.

Enjoy.

We have to dedicate this post to our friend Paula Pita, a master in Art.

See you all very soon.

Editor´s choice

Hi readers!

Let us show you our favourite GIVENCHY´s piece from the latest spring-summer collection 2012. From our point of view it has everything. It is black, short, it has movement because of the ruffles and the original texture of the scales.

We love the hairstyle, so natural, so perfect. Nothing artificial would work with such a beautiful creation. Actually, it´s the hair, apparently not done, what creates a balance between the sophistication of the dress  and the final look of the outfit.

Can´t you imagine wearing something like that?

We can imagine our friend Andrea wearing a look like this. Maybe the next March in Singapore!

Mixing prints

Hi readers!

Winter collections are about to disappear from the shops and resort ones will come up shortly. The fashion industry never takes a rest and we have to move on.

For this period in between seasons the key trend is to wear a mix of winter-spring styles. It doesn't mean that you have to die from cold, that´s not cool, nor wise. We suggest you use the imagination to adapt some colourful prints, shapes and accesories in order to create a balanced look.

Today we want to show you two  perfect examples of the idea we are talking about. Look.

Both pieces present floral prints but notice that the clutch has more dark tones and the main motive is a purple flower surrounded by foliage. In contrast, the bright colours of the high-heels.

The yellow tones and the black background is what they have in common. It´s precisely the mix of these two, yellow and black, together with white and purple what make these prints work perfectly.

The clutch belongs to the current Givenchy's winter collection while platforms belong to Giuseppe Zanotti's spring-summer collection 2012.

We love the idea of mixing prints in order to add more fun to winter looks but remeber that not all prints work well together.

We are glad to be back. Have a nice weekend!

New luxury era

Hi readers!

Sometimes we wonder what does a brand need to belong the select group of the luxury brands, but there is not only one answer. French experts would refer to heritage as a fundamental requisite to belong to this group, but it is not the only thing. Today luxury is perceived in a different way and brands need to show something more than a perfect image. Something really important is the concept of fashion linked to the art.

Yves Saint Laurent or Elsa Schiaparelli were masters in mixing these two concepts. What is true is that France is where the concept of luxury reaches its height.

Our last post showed a beautiful pair of shoes by Vionnet and today we would like to show you some pictures of the fall winter collection.

Absolutely chic! The new image of maison Vionnet is astonishing, surprising, and overwhelming. So elegant, so feminine. Will it be the savoir faire?

Vionnet is an old house with all the necessary features to lead the new concept of luxury. As Lanvin, Balmain or Givenchy, Vionnet has come back to stay and show what luxury is about.

See you all tomorrow!

Red and pink

Hi readers!

The weekend has gone by but I still have vivid memories of the French toast I had on Sunday when I went to have a brunch at "THE MARMALADE PANTRY". The best French toast worldwide, promise!

Today I want to show you an outfit that drives me crazy. It´s from the fall-winter collection of Giambattista Valli. Awesome!

I love the colours, so YSL, the mix of materials, the volume on the skirt, the transparent top with the shoulder-pads, the rounded collar, so simple, so stylish, perfect!

I have to dedicate this post to a friend of mine that was in Paris this weekend. Hope you have had a good time.

See you all tomorrow. Have a nice day!

Angels by Lanvin

Hi readers!

It is impossible to love fashion without loving beauty and without feeling attracted by the magic aura that beautiful things posses. But the concept of beauty in fashion is very singular and wide open, there are no rules to objectively determine what is beauty or not.

Today we want to show you a collection that from our point of view transmits that kind of beauty that makes you dream, we refer to LANVIN and the exceptional work of Alber Elbaz.

The colours, the volumes, the jewellery. We specially love details at the seams, the idea of something unfinished, the concept of beauty imperfectly perfect.

The way the fabrics have been worked and the idea of making a dress modelling directly over the body of the model recall old times when fashion was not about producing massively and the creative process was harder and slower. Paying attention to details was crucial in order to show the best of each fashion house.

When something evokes and transmits the kind of beauty that makes you daydream it´s because it has soul, otherwise fashion as an art expression would not endure.

Please notice the beautiful message of the tattoo the last model has in the back. It says "only angels have wings"... "and wear LANVIN dresses".

The perfect day look

Hi readers!

Something boring about fashion is the fact that we are always viewing the same names, the same brands, the same styles. We love finding new inspirational sources, new faces and names that contribute to new ideas and add a different perspective revitalizing historic houses. We refer to the new designer of Rochas, Marco Zanini.

Let us show what are the best outfits for a perfect day look.

We love the colours, intense blue inside, animal print or this beautiful peach tone outside. Simple, elegant, wearable, comfortable and very chic.

The designer is building up a new image of this historical brand that has its roots in Paris. Experts say he prefectly balances luxury with a sense of humor. We could not agree more.

We love the idea of being dressed by a super brand and nobody noticing it. We love this privacy feeling, it´s like keeping a secret. To us, what reveals who you are is your own style, the way you are, the way you move and not the label you wear.

Iris Van Herpen, our choice

Hi readers!

Yesterday the Emmy Awards ceremony took place and in our opinion, the red carpet was one of the worst we have ever seen, a complete boredom. The majority of ladies wearing the same designer: Elie Saab.

We missed naturalness, youth, freshness, and personality. Attending a special occasion like this one doesn't mean loosing your personal style, your identity.

Today we would like to show you the dress we would have chosen if we had attended the Emmy Awards. Our choice, Haute Couture by Iris Van Herpen. Look!

From the Capriole collection.

Modern, fresh, original, with a futurism touch but without being bulky. Unique. We also love the hairstyling, so simple. When wearing such beautiful and special pieces you don´t need additional accessories to complete the look, the look is perfect like that.

We would just add a touch of colour. We still don´t know where, maybe on the nails, maybe some pear-shaped emerald earrings...

Here is the latest talent of fashion, Iris Van Herpen. Born in 1984 in The Netherlands, she started her own fashion label in 2007. Her concept of fashion is very close to McQueen, Margiela, Chalayan or Taminiau who, like her, believe that fashion is an expression of art.

She is a master of mixing new materials, creating new volumes and shapes. Her talent is so that she is already showing her creations at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week.

We leave you with this amazing dress. See you all tomorrow!

Recalling the 40´s

Hi readers!

Without any doubt Miu Miu´s collection is one of the most successful of the season. Inspired in the forties, fabrics, shapes and hairstyling spread the idea of the discretion, severity and modesty of the era. Contrasting, the glitter boots, prints and the luxury details in fur add a touch of sophistication.

Masterful lesson in creativity and talent.

The worst thing is that the idea is completely imitated by the giants of street fashion and we get bored of seeing everybody wearing and looking very similar while destroying the hard work and the brilliant idea that Miuccia Prada had.

The best advice in our opinion: don´t imitate, try to defend the look with your own style. That way you´ll never be wrong.

We have to dedicate this post to someone who loves Miu Miu as we do, our friend Blanc. Lots of kisses from Singapore.

The look

Hi readers!

We have already bought some October fashion magazines, October! Fashion goes faster than we thought. In these months of autumn magazines show the best of each season and information is key for us!

Today we want to show you a look from the fall 2011 collection of Dries Van Noten that for us is simply perfect bearing in mind that it´s possible, tasteful and with this touch of discreet originality that only Van Noten posses.

The brand is known for its beautiful prints and for its distinctive exotic touch. Always different, always elegant. The Van Noten woman is self-confident, sophisticated but without forgetting  the importance of being comfortable, which is key to look perfect. Feminine, intelligent and very stylish.

The collections always show his particular vision of fashion, nothing is too obvious, flamboyant or flashy in a bad way. It´s never excessive.

The ideal mix between trends and personality. We lo DVN!!

Wild Givenchy

Hi readers!

Polka dots, python skin, forties, powerful colours, fur, these are some of the main trends of the season we will see everywhere. But within fashion world, there are a few talented designers that can keep themselves away from seasonal trends and are able to show something different.

This is the case of Ricardo Tisci, Creative Director of one of the most legendary brands of all times, Givenchy.

These are some details of the collection. Inspired in black panthers and Betty Page, the result is amazing and different from the rest.

This wild animal is related with elegance, beauty, sophistication, exoticism, sensuality and this is what he transfers to the garments but in a luxurious way. These are the qualities that Tisci attributes to a woman. A being who posses all the grace and majesty of this beautiful cat.

A sample of his huge talent.

See you all tomorrow!
